Local resident Ramnaresh Prajapati told Local 18 that on the occasion of Dussehra festival, a grand procession of idols of Kali Mata was taken out in Amarpatan. During this time, devotees were taking the idol of Virajit Mata on a tractor-trolley for immersion. Panda and some small children were also riding on the trolley along with the idol of Mother Goddess. Devotees were walking ahead, dancing to the tune of drums and DJ, while other devotees were walking on foot.

During the fireworks going on there, the spark emanating from the sparkler named Anar came in contact with the statue of Mata Kali and immediately caught fire.
